Prague 8 – Kaizlovy sady
This experimental project of regular jam sessions is open to all musicians who desire to test their own limits and the limits of sound within objects by Čestmír Suška at the same time. The highlight of the project will be a daylong festival that will interconnect visual arts and the contemporary alternative music scene. These events are a space for meeting music enthusiasts, supporting new cooperation, and reviving local cultural life. The musicians will face the challenge of communicating only via sound, as they will be located within different objects and therefore not able to see each other.

Rust (“rez” in Czech) is a corrosion that results from a moist environment and the presence of oxygen. In REZ-ERVACE (the space between the metal objects and the air), the rust comes to life. It can also move, but it usually doesn´t get too far away from its metal base. This physical performance explores objects by Čestmír Suška.

with Pavlína Janíková

Come discover Karlin with the m3 exhibition! A walk, a discussion, discovering different materials and working with them. Searching for the best perspective, lighting, and composition. Interacting with the objects, recasting them into different media, and playing with them. How can a sculpture change an urban environment? Why is it important to have more than just houses in the city? What does urban development mean? What do we lack, and what would we like to change? How might cities look different, and what does urbanism and architecture mean?

Saturday, August 19th, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.   m3 upside down – making a camera obscura
Saturday, September 16th, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.   m3 through camera obscura
Saturday, September 23rd, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Fotogram – Karlin´s Herbarium

with Marie Dvořáková and Katarína Hudačinová

Come see the world upside down and try out various photographic principles! We will learn how we can change a room into a camera obscura that can screen moving pictures and outside world into the dark-room interior in real time. We will also create portable cameras obscura, which we can use to see the world upside down. We will even learn to process film-based (as opposed to digital) photographs.

The capacity of the workshops is limited.

Maud Kotasová | Embroidery of Čestmír Suška´s sculptures (workshop/performance)

Saturday, July 29th, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Sunday, July 30th, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Prague 8 - Kaizlovy sady
Maud Kotasová likes to “embroider” cars the most. She usually plans out how she will embroider the objects she finds, but sometimes she is tempted to spontaneously improvise and embroider just about anything. Do you want to embroider the sculpture of one of the most distinct contemporary sculptors, Čestmír Suška? Come and create an artistic artefact! Čestmír Suška´s sculptures already have many holes and notches ideally suited for knitting, tempting one to create a dialogue, an organic intervention. Embroidery creates a delicate intervention into the metal structure, like a gentle parasite respectfully attaching itself to another work without unduly altering it.

What is it here for? (discussion)

Thursday, September 21st, 6 p.m.

Týnská literární kavárna
m3 is a festival for contemporary art and it aims to influence – at least in the short term – its location by using visual art installations. Art can change people´s relationship to a space which was formerly passed by unnoticed, and it can provoke questions about the need and purpose of public spaces. Curator Radek Wohlmuth together with Čestmír Suška and Kata Benedek will speak about the festival. A debate about the role of artistic installations in public space will be led by Marie Foltýnová (Prague City Gallery).
